Chris Fields, CEO of St George's Crypt
7th February 2022
CEO

Written personally rather than in person.

I was born in Leeds and still retain a strong pride in the city and its people.

I attended school (Greenhill County primary and West Leeds High School for Boys) I left school to begin an apprenticeship in catering and hospitality which no one knew would set me up for working at the Crypt!

I worked at the Queens hotel and then within Trust House forte and then Sodexo.

I was called through my faith to work at St George’s Crypt and started my time here managing the wet hostel Regent Terrace where I learned very quickly the importance of specialist care for people with entrenched addictions and all the associated issues they bring physically, personally, and financially.

I became Operations Director and then CEO 13 years ago. I consider working at the Crypt an immense privilege and never take any day for granted. My personal mission is to prepare the charity to be ready and equipped for the next 50 years in its teams, ethics, resources, and hunger to help those most in need wherever they are within the city and their personal journey.

I am married to Tina and have two grown-up sons. My interests are “chasing the sun”, live theatre, and anything historical.
