Sophie, one of our Support Workers in the Crypt Care Centre, is spending a week at the House of Commons working in the office of Philip Davies MP for Shipley. She will also shadow Philip during his working week so will have the chance to sit in on Committees and to see how the workings of Parliament really function. During her time there, Sophie will also spend some time with John Battle MP for Leeds West and is hoping to meet Iain Wright MP for Hartlepool and Minister at the Department of Communities and Local Government with responsibility for homelessness issues.
Sophie will be keeping a diary of her week and this will be featured on the website.
This opportunity resulted from a placement which Philip Davies did at the Crypt earlier this year through the Centre for Social Justice - an independent think-tank which aims to promote greater social cohesion. It has provided a number of MPs with the opportunity to learn more about projects such as the Crypt through in depth placements.
