PARLIAMENTARY RECEPTION – 12 MAY

St George’s Crypt held a Parliamentary Reception on 12 May hosted by Leeds Elmete MP Colin Burgon. The reception was the third which the Crypt has held over the last few years and was once again a great success. The Reception was sponsored by Barclays, and the Deputy Chairman of the Bank, Gary Hoffman, was present to speak at the event.

The Reception was attended by over 70 people, including MPs, Peers, Crypt supporters from London and Leeds, and Crypt Trustees and staff. It was also attended by the Chairman, Chief Executive, staff and volunteers from St George’s Crypt Create.

The event was held for two main purposes – firstly to announce the Crypt’s successful bid for funding for a further exciting new development to the Crypt’s facilities and work; and secondly to talk about the innovative work being done by St George’s Crypt Create in providing a catering service for the corporate sector, and thereby developing jobs and training for former Crypt service users.

Amongst the guests were Tony Benn, Iain Wright (Minister with responsibility for homelessness issues), John Battle MP, Lembit Opik MP, Philip Davies MP and Peter Bottomley MP.
