Leeds Building Society has made a £1,279 donation to the Crypt. This donation is the Charitable Incentive Donation from Leeds Building Society’s Annual General Meeting.
Leeds Building Society donated 10p for every postal vote received and 20p for every internet vote. Members selected which partner charity they wanted to receive the donation from their vote.
A delegation from Leeds Building Society recently paid a visit to make the cheque presentation for this £1,279 donation to our Faith Lodge hostel, which provides accommodation for otherwise homeless men recovering from alcohol dependency. Faith Lodge aims to provide a safe home where people can move on to the next stage of their lives.
Nigel Wray, Leeds Building Society’s Head of Marketing said, "It was a great opportunity to visit Faith Lodge and see what the money raised by our members, through the AGM Charitable Incentive scheme, goes towards.
"I was delighted to get the chance to see the skills training room, where the residents are monitored through their voluntary activities. The money raised by our members has gone towards further developing this skills training room. During our visit we saw the evidence of the excellent work being done by residents through woodwork, flower arranging, card making and bead making."
Martin Patterson, Fundraising and P.R. Director at the Crypt said, "We were very pleased to welcome the delegation from Leeds Building Society to present the £1,279 donation to us. We are heavily dependent on donations such as this. The services St George’s Crypt provides can only continue through the generosity of our supporters.
"The Skills training room at Faith Lodge has really benefited from Leeds Building Society’s donation. The room now has three computers, each with internet access, in order to promote I.T. skills. There are many purposes to the skills training, including helping clients build their personal CV’s and furthering their chances of finding real employment.
"We would like to thank Leeds Building Society members for their generosity and support throughout 2009. During the holiday period, and the current cold snap, their support is much enjoyed and appreciated by our clients."
